Just a quick update!

The all-along-been-vacant-president-post of cheapskate club has finally found a suitable candidate! She is none other than Lee Ming Ying. Hurray!

Oh yeah and the canteen uncle who tends a dessert stall called 笑哈哈 (means to laugh out loudly) at MENSA is still as gloomy as ever. End of post.

Back to my chronic lifestyle again. I guess i will have nothing to blog in the future if i’m in school. Since its my first day in school after the sweet short holidays conquered by projects, i’m spending a few minutes of my beauty sleep period to note down the happenings today.

Well…what happened today was that nothing happened. The macroeconomic lecturer was cool though. A man in his golden age but not really appealing in his external packaging. Yes, he made us laugh. The same way an Honorary Officer in NPCC did it. They both possess prodigious talent in expressing their humor in a stern way. Around of applause ladies and gentlemen. The lecturer was great at connecting with us. Saying “shit” throughout the lecture and castigating the taxing system in Singapore. We youths simply took great pleasure in it. Shall find out his name.

Lastly, a poem for today: the bus is still as packed and Ming Ying is still as slow.

Goodnight everyone….

Yet another post for the day because I have just came back from Kukup island of Malaysia. It’s a small fishing village which mainly consists of kelongs. Even though it’s a fishing village, i did not go there to fish. Instead i went there to HIBERNATE. Simply because my itinerary consists of only two very constructive-to-my-figure activities: Sleep and Eat. The best thing is, these 2 activities marks the end of my 2 week vacation.

The scenery in Kukup is average. Well, its understandable cause it’s just kelong style resorts. Not those Banyan Tree resorts over there. Not much of hunks and babes there either which explains why i was mainly sleeping or eating. The people which made up the bulk of our tour group were mainly family man with those blissful bellies together with their families. The sea breeze also smelt of salted fish. Luckily we had air-con rooms there. Even so, the air-con still can’t fight with the breeze in terms of bringing down the temperature. But still, I’m sleepable.

The only things that i appreciated much of the island was actually the islanders’ way of living and the food served there. I am really envious of their way of life over there. Everything is happening at a very slow fashion. Stress-free and lots of laughter. All they need to do is to fry a few keropoks, sell it and get on with life. The community there help each other alot and are dependent on each other. For example: the so called resort we are staying in, orders Keropok from the other family and lets us eat it during tea-break. The kids there are often seen running around without parental guidance as well even though they might just drop into the sea any time… That makes them rugged. Big sisters always take care of their younger siblings…preparing milk in their milk bottles for them. What a heart-warming scene isn’t it? Probably because the parents there are more willing to give birth at larger age gaps. Laugh Laugh Laugh…..

Food wise….everything is fresh from the sea. Not only that, the cook from the resort was skillful as well. It suited our taste very much and the best thing is….we can ask for more. The whole trip cost $70 and the food we get there can cost up to about $300 in Singapore. Value for money indeed.

Through this trip, i have learnt just how boisterous adults can be. Throughout the whole stay there, they took much pride in gambling and singing karaoke (those oldies). Even the kids set up their own mahjong table and mimicked their actions or rather, they knew how to play it. They are just 8-11 yrs old and they know how to play mahjong. How cool. Since my mother and i showed no interest in gambling nor singing those oldies, we were left sleeping while the rest of the group were either cheering or dancing in the karaoke room. There were times when we actually got out of bed and walked to the “pasar malam” and brought things though. But that really sums up our whole trip.

And yes, through this trip…i have learnt to depreciate kids aging from 7 – 12 yrs old. They can be fun when you encounter them individually. For example a girl 8 years of age weighing close to my weight (i’m heavy which means she’s heavy too) whom i always poke fun of. She’s really angelic and humorous alone. But when she join forces with the other kids, they turn into little devils instantaneously. How i wish i can vanquish them. It’s really infuriating to have kids challenging you and showing you no respect and pretending they can’t hear you and making you repeat over and over again when you actually is older and know more than them. Well, if that kid was my brother, i would have already smacked the hell out of his chubby face (I’m sure if i have a younger brother, he would be chubby). Chill.. What i did was to ignore and continued with my sleep. So cool.

We ended our trip sashaying on another kelong, viewing the fishes and we headed back with our pretty much unwanted sun tan. Its really a nice way to end off your holidays. Doubt i will be doing it again. Goodbye Kukup and goodbye holidays!

I apologize for the late update. You see, Da Chang Jin (thats me) has been involved in a world gourmet conference. So, i couldn’t update this word press promptly. Please pardon me.

OK..enough of nonsensical words. Let’s get down to business. JU SHIN JUNG is no doubt exquisite. It was the most stupendous Korean buffet dining experience i ever had in my 17 years on earth. The king and the star of that day was none other than the majestic looking pig.jpg.

The chicken can just stand aside and wait on the pork.

All right…let me just brief you all a little bit on the bbq buffet itself. On the whole, the bbq cost us about $35 inclusive of all the taxes. I dunno about that when the tax rises to 7%. That you will have to go calculate yourself. K…the buffet consists of an a la carte item. One item per person. If I’m not wrong there are about nine dishes to choose from. All the four dishes we ordered (cause there were 4 of us) tasted fine except for the bi bim bap which was not ideally up to our standard. It’s ok though because the star of the day is still the bbq. For the bbq, they only offered marinated chicken and pork. A little chap fallen after knowing that they did not offer Mr Cow for the bbq. I was really eager to find out how the tongue would taste on the bbq. Nevertheless, we still enjoyed our bbq. Oh yes, one thing very important, you cannot waste meat. They are charging $20 for any 100g of meat wasted. So, you can waste their a la carte item for all they care but not the meat. However, its never good to waste food. Just eat till you drop.

ok…lets talk more about the food. Alongside with the bbq, are the side dishes. The amount of side dishes that they offer truly shows their generosity. It’s free flow some more! Club members from the cheapskate club can go there. Cool ah… Just the sight of the side dishes whets our appetite already. It’s very colorful. Just like the dishes that i always prepare for the emperor. The a la carte was fine but isn’t worth talking about much. Then comes the chicken and the pork for our bbq. I shall focus more on the pork as there isn’t much to focus on the chicken. All right…here goes….every slice of the pork that we ate was so sweet and tender. The juice just oozes out from the succulent pork the moment it touches the hot plate. Cool ah. It tasted heavenly and sort of made up for the absence of the cow. The marinade for the pork was simply excellent. That made the whole dining experience finger-hotplate-plate-cutleries-licking-good. Blissful life.

The service there was great too. All the waitresses there put on a smile. Not those fake smile. But somehow they did look a bit like Mona Lisa in my mind (I’m not sure if she smiled when the picture was drawn) I think this kind of smile and not smiling effect is not as fake as those who were forced to smile by their managers for the good service effect. Enough of smiling. The speed of their service is also fast and furious. Once ordered, the order comes within the next few minutes. Cool ah. yeah….

In total, we ate about 10 plates of meat. On the whole, we enjoyed the dining experience there. A definite place to go for value-for-money buffet. Bon appetit !

Back from baking cookies. The process was hysterical. I am really a woman of my words. Lets do some recollection. I said that i would be better off baking pig’s trotters or rather burning the kitchen. Bingo… i actualized it like a breeze. I was pretty sanguine about my multi-tasking skills. So i end up fiddling with the piano while the cookies were sun-tanning in the oven. Renee and ah boon were eating dinner then. To my astonishment, Samantha’s uncle went into the kitchen, smelt something and said : “ooi..something chao tah ah?”. Yeah…that marks the end of the cookies. They anon achieved the 4th degree burns and turned into charcoal chunks right away. There isn’t any gingerbread man as well. The dough was simply to hard to be shaped into him. Even if we managed to do so, it will turn out as charcoal bread man. This cookie baking session teaches us one thing and that is to glom at the oven while baking.

Enough of cookies. Something happened before we went to cut our hair. Shan’t elaborate in order to keep living. In case i step on land mine.

Alright, we went to cut our hair at around 8. Samantha trimmed her hair and looked as beautiful. Ah boon layered her hair and it was splendid. Ren nai trimmed her somewhat Hagrid-lookalike hairstyle and has made a slight improvement in her image.. Laugh laugh. As for me, my achievement was remarkable. I managed to get the helmet off my head. Let’s give a round of applause!

Tomorrow will be the long-awaited day and the day which gives meaning to this short holiday. Its buffet at주신정. Cool man. Target: To eat a cow and other farm animals. Signing off! Whoopie…excited excited.

Come on… queue up to be eaten…. Don’t fight..all will be given a chance to be eaten……

Homesickness isn’t just any ordinary sickness. It can advance to depression and when that happens and deteriorates further, the next scene you will see is a body lying on the pavement below your block (method of suicide subjects to personal preferences) Alright…currently only Dr Cherina has the cure or alternatively you can go to your own mommy and daddy!

Brought Samantha’s German friend around her future workplace to help her familiarize herself. Throughout the trip what i felt was her uneasiness. I felt uneasy as well because i can’t really click with Caucasians. However being a hospitality student can’t click also must click. Wanted to tell her jokes but on a second thought she probably wouldn’t understand my jokes. (Even my friends find it difficult to understand my profound ah lian jokes) Instead, i talked to her about German sausages and sauerkraut.. Laugh laugh… learnt that in school. I think it did relief a bit of her home sickness. To my amazement, my topic did help develop further topics. Sometimes talkativeness does help. Next time if any of you feel homesick, come talk to me…i can understand what is homesick

All right next topic. The hotel which she is working at is Meritus Mandarin. The 5 star hotel with numerous posh cars parked outside. Splendid! It isn’t hard to see a few Rolls Royce, Bentley, Porsche parked outside. Its definitely a good place for car-gazing. If you are free you can go gaze at our German friend as well. She’s really pretty. Laugh laugh

Alright…tomorrow Chia Jing Hui Cherina is going to bake cookies. Can’t believe that i am going to bake cookies. I think I’m better off baking pig’s trotters or in lieu, burning the whole kitchen. Lets see if i can bake a gingerbread man and make it run away from me tomorrow. Good night and goodbye!

Shrek 3 is simply splendiferous.

1) The graphics are vivid and realistic

2) The plot is good

3) The characters are cute

4) Voice actors were great

5) The audience is good (thats my pals and I)

The movie started with “Prince Charming” riding his horse to save Rapunzel. It later turned out that he was actually on stage and the “horse” was actually his own legs. Dramatic and comedic way to start the movie. This scene alone already shows us the essence of the graphic. (Although i must say every scene are the essence of their graphic designs) The way every strand of hair wavers in the breeze is crafted to perfection and it makes my hair jealous (my hair can’t waver). Thumbs up on the graphics.

The plot… This movie amalgamates the different fairy tales together. It also gives a twist of characteristics of the characters in the fairy tales. For example, when Cinderella, Snow white, Rapunzel and all those kind and innocent and gentle characters meet, they instantly becomes a group of gui tai tais. Gossiping and doing what the gui tai tai does. To sum the movie up……the story begins when the king (a frog) passes away and wants Shrek to ascend his throne. However, Shrek does not want to be a king thinking that he will not live up to it and how can an ogre who eats small children be a king? So he sets out on his quest to look for aurtie who was next in line to ascend the throne. At the same time, a desperate Prince (the antagonist) sets out to usurp the throne together with the help of the antagonists from all the other fairy tales. Together, the protagonist and the antagonist experiences their interesting journey and thats where the comedic scenes are. In the end, you should know who ascended the throne lah huh… It ended with something cliche but inspiring.

Right! The characters. So far my favorite character is not Shrek and Princess Fiona. They are simply too unappetizing. Yeah..if you put them on the table you would probably mistake them as gorillas flavored with green tea ice cream and wasabi. Princess Fiona would then be the brunette gorilla prepared in the same fashion. Oh yeah, their kids are cute. Somewhat like green smurfs. The most appealing characters to me are Pinocchio and gingerbread man. Their cuteness are the ultimate man…I think they should have their own movies. If not i will film one for gingerbread man.

gingerbreadman.jpg

Well, without the voice actors, this movie would probably fall flat. All the voice actors were very successful in bringing out the characteristics of the characters. Just to name few : Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, Justin Timberlake. Eddie Murphy was superb. He brought the donkey alive! Two thumbs up!

Lastly a good movie must have good audience. Take my pals and i for example. Laughing at the right time, silent when necessary. Thoughtful as angels. Laugh Laugh Laugh.

I strongly urge you ogres out there to go watch your fellow ogre and his pals on the big screen. Signing off!

One day has passed tremendously fast since the 3 slow moving days in the wilderness of our protected environment Pulau Ubin. Felt like a walking UHU stick during the camp. Sticky 24/7. Right…thats not the issue here. The real issue is that i have observed many types of cadets during the camp and rather amused by them. There are those dramatic ones (who will really make it big in Hollywood), serious ones (ever so attractive), sleepy ones  and so on. I have also observed my cadets throughout the camp. Will not disclose my observations. However, i have to say that some really have the potential to reach the heights. Surfed some blogs and found some pleasing-to-my-eyes entries which tells me much (yes i do surf blogs). Seriously lack of one of the essentials in life (sleep) now. I shall turn in to prevent any more formation of eye bags. Good day

woke up in the morning. First things first is to switch on the television. After which i can choose either to do the following 2 actions:

1) Switch it off

2) Destroy the television

(Well i would probably choose #1 cause if i chose #2 my mother would destroy me first)

Well…it is really dejecting to see that Singapore cant really depend on its entertainment to survive. Certain shows do really have good scripts but that only the minority. The variety shows are also pretty dull. Maybe some might beg to differ but thats really what i feel deep down in my heart. Fortunately, we do not need to depend on our entertainment for survival (if we do, thats it.. goodbye). At least we have something to fill our televisions.

Look..I’m not trying to castigate Singaporean entertainment but i really do not get entertained by it (oh wait a second…maybe i do! I do laugh at how the way actors and actresses act and how hosts try to act funny)

Let us first take a look at Singaporean dramas. Well, the actors and actresses are pretty decent looking. Some are quite good-looking actually, but barely a few who are charismatic. Acting wise, i must say they act as if they are acting. For example, crying. Isn’t someone who is crying supposed to resist the tears from flowing out? what our celebrities are doing is to force the tears out of their faces. Cool ah.. by doing that can actually help in detoxing their system isn’t it? All right, let’s move on to plots. Singaporean plots are rather diversified i must say. It is so diversified that some of us can’t actually get hold of the plot. The dramas are also pretty quiet. I noticed there isn’t much outstanding soundtracks of Singaporean drama in the market. Maybe they have failed to realize the impact of music as powerful tools of evoking emotions.

The variety shows are also pretty arid. There isn’t really much atmosphere in live shows and certain hosts are simply trying very hard to be funny. But i must say that Kim Ng, Bryan wong and some others are quite outstanding in this field. Even so, there isn’t much productions nowadays which can really enable them to display their talents to the fullest.

Oh yes… what is the hottest competition nowadays? Campus superstar! I wonder where have the winners of this series of competition gone to. Some of them were really outstanding. This competition is out to find the next star but what are they really doing to make them into real stars which can impact the industry? I’m still waiting for someone to arise to the status of maybe say Stephanie Sun to prove to me that these competition aren’t useless. It may be very useful to use it to earn some money and escalate the viewer ship but thats just the corporation objective. What the audience wants is to see a star to arise through the competition isn’t it? Let’s just hope for some miracle to happen. When it does, i might be stuck to the television.

All right shall end off. I’m awaiting a revolution in the Singaporean entertainment industry. Oh by the way, Singapore Tourism Board has got very hilarious commercials in promoting Singapore overseas. Maybe we should see some in our TV.

All right…Time to start a new blog. Had one donkey years ago and was practically blogging nonsense. This time its different. Let me show you what time can do to a person. Well, this blog is launched in an attempt for me, an amateur in blogs to improve my engrish. Sorry that was ENGLISH. Well…perhaps i might blog in 中文, or even 한글, or should i try 日本語………..hmm …like real…I’m not that competent to be a multi-linguist. If i were one, i wouldn’t be here posting this. I would be in a world conference sitting next to some big shot political leaders and earning money for every word i translate. Last but not least, i have no intention for my blog to be solely for entertainment purpose. But sometimes i just can’t control my humor genes. That wraps what i’m going to say in my first post. Good day!
( Today marks the 1st day of my 2 weeks holiday filled with projects. WOW what a holiday. Can’t wait for Samantha to come back and the many many of us can have our scrumptious buffet spread of meat only. WOOHOO!)
